When asked our opinion on window styles, we never hesitate to recommend sash windows to customers as they are an eternal favourite and true classic, in every sense of the word. It doesn’t matter if your property dates back hundreds of years or was only recently built, they will suit it. For this installation, sash windows with Georgian bars were instaled as the householder was particularly keen on the character they added to them. As was usually the case with traditional sash windows, you open them using a movable panel, which lets a lovely breeze float indoors.
Georgian bars were also featured in the French doors, as were side panels to maximise the outdoor view. The garden gets used far more frequently than it did now that French doors are there to provide a handy double opening. The trickiest part of the project was having to craft the arched sash window for the aperture at the back. It took some time to perfect, but it was worth the effort and the homeowner agreed. The imposing figure in the front entrance is a new black composite door, which you wouldn’t dare to try and force your way past without a key.
